AVENGERS JUNE FAMILY READINESS UPDATE

Greetings from COB Speicher Iraq! Here we are at the end of June! It is hard to believe that it was almost seven months ago that we all were at the RCA Dome participating in an amazing ceremony- and just taking a wild guess, I would say that the difference in tempatures is at least a 100 degrees!

Your Avengers have been working hard throughout the month. We have begun escorting convoys in a different area, have begun training for upcoming humanitarian missions and have begun to receive new vehicles to use on our convoy escort missions.

We are also looking forward to our combined Avenger Forward and Avenger Homefront Celebration. 1LT Andy Wood and the FRG are working hard to put together an event to remember during the month of August.

Our cover this month features a photo montage of a few of the handmade cards from a Sunday School class. We have received care packages, magazines, books, DVDs, candy and hundreds of boxes of Girl Scout cookies from friends and family both in Indiana and across the country- and yes, I did say hundreds of boxes! All of your Avengers are so very thankful for your continued love, support, letters and cards, and thoughts and prayers. Please enjoy the newsletter.

Dunivan's Convoy
Somewhat sung to the tune of "Gilligan's Island"
Dictionary: CLP- Convoy Logistics Patrol; HETT- a huge Army tractor-trailer; C2- Convoy Commander; COB- Contingency Operating Base FOB- Forward Operating Base

Now sit right down and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful CLP.
That started from COB Speicher along with thirteen HETTs.
The C2 was a mighty leading man, the Skipper was there too.
Nineteen pax took off that day for a three day CLP... a three day CLP.
The schedule started getting rough, the whole timeline was lost.
If not for the coverage of Gun Truck 6, the whole CLP would be
lost... the whole CLP would be lost.
The CLP set down on several unchartered FOBs...
with Dunivan, the Skipper too.
Chucky and his boys. The sparks truck with Arnett and crew.
the Gardner and Julian... Here on Dunivan’s Convoy!

The pictures on the next few pages are a montage of photos taken during a recent extended mission executed by the Avengers... the mission called Dunivan’s Convoy.
